Our best technical
decisions and assessments can fail if communication with the
public is not effective. Does your job involve communicating about
envrionmental health risks? Do you want to hear examples and
applications of risk communication taken right from the environmental
and public health field?
Participate in a one-day
workshop presented by the National Collaborating Centre of
Environmental Health (NCCEH), in partnership with CIPHI, Cape Breton
University, and Alberta Health Services.

This week marks Environmental Public
Health Week
across the country. The Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors
continues to generate awareness of the work performed by Environmental
Public Health Professionals through this annual event and other
initiatives.
This year marks a monumental time in the history of CIPHI, given the
commencement of our Continuing Professional Competencies Program. This
week and throughout the year be proud of your contribution

We are pleased to announce the 77th CIPHI
National Educational Conference will be held at the Marriott
Harbourfront Hotel, Upper Water Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia from June 26-29, 2011.
The Branch is
very
excited to host the conference. We are aware of the large amount of
work associated with hosting the event, from the experience hosting the
2004 National Conference in Charlottetown, PEI.
The conference
co-chairs, Doreen Mackley and Gary O'Toole are
encouraging members to consider volunteering for one of
the conference subcommittees. Contact them

Membership
Looking
for a convenient way to ensure that your CIPHI membership remains
current
year after year? Fill out the form below to grant permission of CIPHI
to
biweekly deduct the membership fee from your pay.
Currently,
the NS/ PEI fee is $170/year,
which amounts to 6.54$ deducted per pay
over
the calendar year.
Complete
fees must be submitted to the National Branch in full for 2010
membership

This
is the official site of the Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island
Branch
of the Canadian Institute of Public health Inspectors (CIPHI). CIPHI is
the professional association that represents
Public Health Inspectors and Environmental Health Officers across
Canada.
There
are currently 50 regular and 5 retired members in our branch. Included
in these numbers are 10 lifetime, affiliate, and student members in
the
NS / PEI chapter.
Student membership is a great chance for students to
become involved in their future public health careers. For retired
members,
they may find they have additional opportunity to participate in CIPHI
