Holiday Greetings

On behalf of the branch, I want to wish everyone Season Greetings, Happy Holidays, Joyeuses Fêtes, and Felices Fiestas, to you and your family. We hope you enjoy this great season with friends, family, and colleagues! We are always looking for your input into how we might be able to serve our members better,  so if you have ideas, suggestions or concerns, please let anyone of your executive know, especially for our upcoming Annual Education Conference and AGM on April 10, 2015 at the Inn on the Lake, Fall River, Nova Scotia.

I would like to thank your Branch Executive for all their work over the past year and they are Sara Baird, President Elect; Jason Catoul, Treasurer; Sarah MacEachern, Secretary; Vanessa Nickelo, Webmaster; Doreen Mackley, Past President; Ryan Neale, PEI Councillor; Dana MacDonald, Northern Councillor; Heidi Darling, Central Councillor; Stephen Ferguson, Western Councillor; Alan McMullin, Southwestern Councillor; and Rodney Lahey, Cape Breton Councillor.

The branch is still currently looking for someone to lead our Branch newsletter the Tartan, it is open to all members.  It is really good opportunity to be involved in our branch.  It will be fully supported by our executive within the branch, providing the content, you just have to put it together.

Finally, I would like to congratulate our colleagues at the Department of Health and Wellness on the  announcement of three new Public Health Officers which strikes a new chapter for Environmental Public Health in Nova Scotia.

Stay Safe and Happy Holidays,

Branch National Educational Conference Award

Please consider nominating one of your colleagues for the Branch National Educational Conference Award. The person should meet the award criteria outlined in the attached document.   The deadline for submission is  April 13th , 2014 and can be submitted to Branch President, Doreen Mackley (contact information is enclosed on the application form).   We would like to award this at our AGM on May 2, 2014, so that the successful member(s) can begin travel preparations for this year’s conference in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Also remember the early bird deadline is April 11th, 2014 for our Branch Professional Development Session, so don’t forget to register soon.

Upcoming Professional Development Session & AGM

Hello Fellow CIPHI Members,

Well our AGM and Professional development session is drawing closer.  Please note that we have chosen to extend early bird registration until April 23, 2014, so that we can have some final numbers and most can take advantage of the early bird registration rate.  We have also included an agenda for the day, for those that have been wondering about it, we just finalized it the past few days.

Also I have attached the Branch Education Award.  Please note that we have not had any application for the award, so please consider nominating one of your branch colleagues for the award.

Also if some of you folks are unable to attend, please send allow your proxies to a member that is able to vote on your behalf.

Finally we have made a minor change to the AGM time, is now at 12:30 pm.

Thanks and look forward to seeing you on May 2, 2014.
