60th Atlantic CIPHI Branch Anniversary
On May 30, 1956 at a meeting held at the Admiral Beatty Hotel in Saint John N.B. a motion was made to form the Atlantic Branch of the Canadian Institute of Sanitary Inspectors. The first President was Aldore LeBlanc with Giles Cantwell as secretary-Treasurer. Twenty five Inspectors were in attendance at this meeting. Since this beginning 60 years ago this May, the Branch has seen many changes including the transition from the Atlantic Branch to today’s Nova Scotia – PEI Branch.
Over the years many documents, photos, press clippings, letters, Branch events, awards, etc have been produced. A 60th anniversary commemorative committee has been formed to organize some events around the anniversary. Accordingly we are asking past and present members if they can help with the following:
Any photos, newspaper clippings, stories, recollections etc they may have of Health Inspection, especially in the years prior to and during the Atlantic Branch.
Do you know of or have contact with any retired inspector or family of the inspector; email; telephone; address etc so we can try to contact them. We would like to renew old acquaintances and let them know of the anniversary.
News of any members that have received any awards etc, rather for their PHI work or other accomplishments
Any member who may have a family member (parent, sibling ) that is or was a PHI
Anything members could provide will help us is commemorating the anniversary. Materials can be returned or put into our Branch Archive. Let me know if you have anything you would like to send along. I can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org
